The club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Mel Story as Fitzroy-ACU Women's Senior Assistant Coach.

Mel has been coaching at her son's Northcote Junior Football Club since 2015, and has previously been involved with the Northern Knights and FJFC Colts.

In 2018 Mel was training with our women's team until she unfortunately injured herself in an intra-club which took her out for the season. She was an assistant coach with the Roys in 2019 with our U19s, and volunteered with the U19s in 2018. Mel decided at the start of 2020 to take a break from coaching with Fitzroy but assisted in the early part of pre-season training with the U19s before the pandemic set in.

Newly appointed Fitzroy-ACU Senior Women's Coach Bronte Ryan is very excited by the appointment.

"Im really excited that Mel Story is on board as our senior assistant coach in 2021, she is so knowledgeable about the game and I know she will have an immediate, positive impact on the players.

She is also a familiar face, having been a player and assistant coach for Fitzroy already. Im looking forward to working with Mel and achieving some really great outcomes on and off the field for our team and the club."
