Team of the Decade 2015 - 2024
"I felt like I finally found my family. I always wanted to play footy, but when I turned 12 I remember being told I could no longer play with the boys...Then years later (way too late!) footy forwomen finally fully emerged! So many special memories are held there - so much fun, so much love, so much inclusivity. Rolling around in the changerooms screaming out the words to Torn will always be in my heart! So will jumping to the sky with everything I had - being able to use my body in a physical way in sport and feel proud of that". Tash Ross Harris
In late 2014, the Fitzroy Board made the momentous decision to field a Fitzroy Women’s team for the first time in the 2015 season. An enduring partnership was formed with the Australian Catholic University (ACU) and the mighty Roygirls took to the Brunswick Street Oval Fitzroy-ACU for their first official game on Sunday 19 April, 2015.

In 2016, a Reserves team was added.
Over the years, hundreds of women players have donned the FFC guernsey and the teams have enjoyed many great wins and finals success. In 2022, the Senior Women contested the Premier B Grand Final and, although they were unable to take home the flag, they were promoted to the Premier division within only a few short years of being created.
Since 2022, they have run out for home games to their own song - a modified version of the FFC sung throughout the Club's history.
10th anniversary celebrations
On Saturday 13 July, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the women's program with great wins by both Reserves and Seniors teams before a huge post-match party.
We printed a special Footy Record!
Champion forward and foundation player, Liz Olney, even became the first FFC woman to kick 100 goals during the 10th anniversary games!
We named our first ever Team of the Decade.
