On Friday 8 July the crowd were not only treated to an entertaining senior womens match but also saw the inaugural Auskick Roy Girls Grid Game at half time. The half time game was played in great spirits and the girls enjoyed the crowd support.

Jo Hogan, Fitzroy-ACU Womens 2 coach understands Auskick is an important first step in creating a development pathway for women and girls playing footy. Events like the grid game create those opportunities for girls to learn and grow as players.

"Events like tonight, where children can experience the magic of behind the scenes and meet their role models up close and personal, ignites their passion of our game. To see the joy and excitement of these young players as they got amongst itcould be seen in bucket loads at Vic Park," said Jo.

Not only is it a great experience for the girls from Auskick, it also allowed the Fitzroy-ACU leadership team to provide support to the girls before and during the half time game.

Jo stated, It's an opportunity for our leadership team to be part of growing and inspiring footy in our community. Our senior ACU/Roy Girls demonstrated inclusiveness, belonging and the magic of team and support. They embraced the Fitzroy Auskickers and provided them with a night to remember. And Im sure they will remember it for a long time to come."

Did you know? One of the Auskick girls made a small Trophy Award for the Roy Girl who showed the most team work, participated fairly and had fun.Well done to Gemma Minuz who received the girls award!
