Call for new directors to join Fitzroy Board

The Fitzroy Football Club is looking to fill a number of newly developed board positions in time to get season 2019 off to the best possible start.

The Fitzroy Football Club (Incorporating the Fitzroy Reds) is seeking expressions of interest for new directors for election at the 134th annual general meeting at 2:30 pm on Sunday 2 December in the Community Rooms at Brunswick Street Oval.

To join the Fitzroy Football Club Board, there is a process outlined in the Clubs constitution and there is just a matter of weeks to apply in time for voting at the AGM in early December. The deadline for applications is Saturday 10 November.

Under the constitution, the Club can have 10 directors. Currently five roles are filled. These are President, Director Budget and Finance, Director Football Operations, Director Events, and Director Volunteers and Community Relations. The Club is particularly looking for people who can fill the following remaining portfolios:

These are full operational Board roles which incorporate governance requirements (Fitzroy has a company structure), attendance at monthly meetings and significant work to run each portfolio. We are looking for people with the appropriate experience and/or skills and a willingness to roll their sleeves up and get involved to help the Club achieve its full potential.

Detailed position descriptions have been developed for each of the roles and those that are vacant are linked to the titles above.

To nominate for a director position, you will need to be a paid-up member of the Fitzroy Football Club (memberships can be purchased online), complete a nomination form and have it proposed, seconded and signed by two other financial members of the Club. The completed form (signed, scanned and emailed) will need to be with Company Secretary, Bill Atherton, by midnight Saturday 10 November. Bill's email is bill@fitzroyfc.com.au
